Marrickville Allstars Netball Club Inc was founded in the early 1980’s by Mrs Betty McMillan. Initially Clare Pekin and Betty McMillan ran a club called Pink Panthers. This club grew and when it was getting large in numbers, Betty and Clare came to an amicable agreement to split the Club into two. Our Club, All Stars, was formed.

Marrickville All Stars Netball Club Inc is one of the fastest growing clubs in the eastern suburbs of NSW with approximately 35 junior and senior teams. The Club provides all registered players with subsidised registration fees, umpires, discounted membership to the Club’s sponsor Marrickville RSL Club Inc and many other incentives during the year including awards for junior players throughout the season, presentation events for both senior and junior players including gifts for their support and participation with the club each year.

The Club was based at the City of Sydney Netball Association (CSNA), based at Moore Park for many years. In 1999 the Club took its junior teams from CSNA to the Randwick Netball Association, where it remains today.

Mrs McMillan managed the Club for a few years and was assisted by Berni, Rosie and Kim to name a few. She was also assisted greatly by her husband Jack McMillan. In the late 80’s Betty and Jack decided to move to the Central Coast to retire and the reins were handed over to Berni, Kim and Rosie.

In 1991, Berni and Kim decided to step down due to personal commitments. Philip Cotsicos took over the reins for a year, and then in 1995 Louise Higgins became Secretary, and remains Secretary today. Jennie Blackmore became Junior Secretary in 1999 and has remained as an Executive member since than time. Sandra Toal and Narelle Olsen joined the Netball Club in 1984.

In 1996 the Club was fortunate enough to gain sponsorship from Marrickville RSL Club, a partnership that is still enjoyed today. Due to this sponsorship, and the excellent organisation of the Committee in running the Club, the Club continues to grow.

In 2004, in recognition of Betty’s tireless work and setting the foundations of this great Club, Betty was presented with the Club’s first Life Membership. Click here to see who has been awarded Life Membership with our Club.

In 2005 the Club initiated Service Awards’ for members that have been with the Club for 10 years or more. We pride ourselves on being a very friendly and family oriented Club. Each year we honour a member that has committed themselves to working with the Club that year. We also now have the Robyn Webster Memorial Trophy each year to honour our dear friend Robyn Webster, who died tragically in the Bali Bombings of 2002. Click here to see our award winners.

On 18 July 2009 the netball club become incorporated.
